Mahindra & Mahindra will bring out the electric version of this 4 wheeler mini-truck by October 2010. With the launch of Electric Maxximo M&M is looking to capture the increasingly popular electric vehicles market with its low cost and low maintenance.

"Electric Maxximo will be as practical as any other commercial vehicle of its size. It has the capacity of going up to 90 kilometers per full charge of 8 hours," said Pawan Goenka, president of the automotive division of Mahindra.

"The savings will be high on this vehicle, but it will depend on the price per unit of electricity in different states," said Goenka. Electric two wheelers are also slated to be on the list of new launches by M&M although no launch date has been decided for the products.

Launching of an electric scooter is also high on M&M's agenda. "We are certainly looking at them. We will start working upon them in sometime soon," said Goenka.
